African-Asian Cultural Exchange

In 2023, GSSYA youth participated in the YMCA Youth Exchange Program. Over fourty youth were part of this program, one half of whom were from Edmonton and the other from Toronto, staying for six days in each other's communities. In May, we visited Edmonton for six days, between May 19th and May 25th. Throughout the program, the participants explored several notable locations in Edmonton, such as the Alberta Legislature Building, the Edmonton Valley Zoo, and the Royal Alberta Museum. They formed strong bonds with their newfound friends in Edmonton, learning about each other's cultures and personalities. Participants improved their communication skills, independence, and knowledge of Canadian culture.
